Corporate communication is further classified into horizontal and vertical communication-communication between the employees at the same level is horizontal communication and communication with people at different levels in the organisation is vertical communication.

Extreme corporate communication or external communication consists of communication with current investors, customers and other corporate parties. Tools used for this type of communication are advertising, marketing and public relations. Through external communication the organization presents itself to the whole world. External communication is an element to create “goodwill” in the market. Advertisement campaigns and promotions also make-up a part of external corporate communication.
