Resume Tips For College Students

You are still in college, and professional world can wait a few years. Than who will need a resume?

Make a well constructed resume, which will give you potential opportunities throughout your college time. These include seasonal, internships and fellowship. Another advantage is that you will be ready to update your resume for the first job after graduation.

Here are five tips for writing your first resume:

Begin with your qualification summary: Don\'t write a objective in the beginning, because it will have focus only what a job seeker want, which is of not that much important to the hiring person. In place of objective, students should give profile section which clearly shows the value they offer to their employer. Write summary in brief, a few eye catchy sentences are more then enough.

Give more importance to education: Usually education is considered as a bottom of resume, but students always put them in top and move ahead.

Without having any experience education is the most important thing for them to offer. Education section moves down as the candidate gain experience.

Give description for unrelated jobs: Many students do part time job, that is not related to their career goal. That does not mean that you carry irrelevant details. The employers value the candidate who are dependable and have strong work ethics.

Think from both aspect as a employers and job seeker: Go through the ads and internship in which you have interest. Think about the qualification which is mentioned in the advertisement. And you think that you have that skill, then you can mention that in your resume.

Next thing is that look at your own experience. Your skills and experiences may not be relevant to the position you are applying for.

Choose the correct length and format for writing your resume: Almost for all the students one page resume is more then then enough. It is not compulsory in all cases, some have done internship and have some work experience can extend their resume upto two pages.
