Alcohol And Drugs At Workplace


Human resources have to solve the alcoholism and substance abuse problems, which is becoming very common day by day.

When effects of alcohol and substance abuse on workers, both quality and quantity get reduced. Mangers do not come to know about such things in advance. Co-workers are the one who get to know about such things.

Hr personnel help the alcoholic employees, but some them avoid them without helping to overcome their addiction.

Being in the human resource department it is your duty to look after the employees of your company. Because employees are the valuable assets, and such issues should be given primary concern.

Their mainly four stages to solve such problem:

Early stage: During this stage the following signs can be checked within an individual, whether he/she is abusing alcohol or substance like drugs. If they come to work late or very slow/lazy while performing their work. Quit early without having any concern whether they have completed their work or not. Absence in working hours, to drink and reveal their tension.

General behaviour observe during thus stage are:Complains made by co-workers. If you are the manager of the department from which some co-workers has complain about someone who is linked to alcoholic and substance abuse. Being a manager react on such complain, don\'t avoid them.

Job performance during early stage consists of:Many person have the fear of being abused or other substance at workplace and not able to perform the task given to them. His work is not upto the mark because he cannot concentrate and make lots of errors. He has low efficiency while performing his work.

Middle stage:During this stage following signs can be used to determine alcoholic or substance abuse cases. This includes the following signs:

They cannot be trusted when they say that they can perform a task on time effectively. When they are asked that why they are not present at work they don\'t have any answer and they feel guilty about it. They avoid their co-workers. They borrow money from their co-workers for any fake reasons like minor injury on head, hands, neck and so on.
