Policies and guidelines: The most important task for HR people to maintain the documentation of the business, including all the policies and guidelines used for staff members new as well as old. The business should be very particular to review such policies, with the help and guidelines of other department. The staff should be informed about each and every step so that they come to know where they satnd and what policies is being used in working hours.

References from candidates: When you look at prospective candidate o employ, it is necessary not only to ask, but to follow personal references. Commonly HR professionals do not follow up on references, or leave all the things to departmental head of recruitment process. HR department should take care of recruitment process. Because this process gets overlooked when there are many requirements. Getting proper reference from the candidates at the initial stage will help you to save from future headache.

Active Enrollment: HR department should take care of training of new starter. So the enrollment programme should designed and implemented for the new starter. The purpose behind this is that they should also know about the policies of the company.

Incentives and recognition: An individual being working in any organisation should feel that he is contributing to a business, look forward for long term career through incentives or promotions. It is the duty of HR department to ensure that recognition and incentives are provided to motivate employees and improve there performance.

Know your business to the depth: HR profession should focus on core responsibilities, know the requirements and marketplace that your company is working with. Recognize different requirements of the company.

Appraisals: Make sure that you business have effective appraisal and personal development programme implemented because it is necessary. Through appraisals the company come to know about the feedback of the employees on how they feel about their job and the employees get the help to make their career within the company. There are certain reasons like salary issues, feeling of dissatisfaction etc, due to which the employees leave the company, effective appraisal process help to avoid such problems.

Disciplinary procedure: Disciplinary procedure is carried out by the employees line managers, but still it is important for HR professionals to involve in this process to make sure that internal process are going on properly and to avoid the mistakes.

Exit interviews: When someone leaves the company, it is a ideal opportunity for the company to know the reasons why that person is leaving and what they think should be changed in existing company. Make sure that the exit interview remains confidential, because in many case the employees do not feel confidential.

Time management: The most important skill of HR professional is time management,  ensure the company that you do things effectively on time. The best way to to your things on time is to make a list and prioritize the tasks which is more important. By following this method you will never realize your work load.
