1.Don't ignore the problem:
You should assume that employees are the valuable assets of the company, there are ways to deal with problematic employees too. Many managers take them very lightly and assume that they will come back to normal own its own. Ignoring such situations will become progressive problem.
2.Take action as soon as possible:
If the negative behaviour remain the same and no attention is given, than it becomes a big problem for the company.
The employees who is behaving negatively do not feel that his behaviour is creating problem to others. Some employees consider this problem as job frustration or some employees want to be liked by colleagues and subordinate so they don't speak anything when any problem arises.
The manager is responsible to take appropriate action to correct the problem. Whatever may be the problem whether it arises due to lack of knowledge or any thing. The manager should collect information from the employees personally to solve the problem.
3.Do personal research for problem:
The manger need to solve the problem calmly and away from office environment. The manager should first confirm whether the person is aware about the problem or not. And ask him if he is aware of any such issues.
If the employees is not aware, it is the duty of employees to explain him everything clearly. The employee will not accept his problem, then the manager should explain him with the help of examples of his unwanted behaviour.
4.Help them to get back to normal:
As the employees understand its negative behaviour and they are effecting others in the organisation. Than the manager should guide the difficult employees to behave in more appropriate manner. You need to give him some time for this purpose. HR or the manager should give feedback on success of reducing negative actions and influencing them to become more positive.
5.If none of the above things work, termination becomes necessary:
If the employees is not ready to accept his negative behaviour after taking every possible efforts than the manager has to step towards termination. This also includes recording of verbal document and written feedback about the negative behaviour. Still this trial period does not work, than finally the employees is terminated.
Such negative behaviuor arise at tough economic times when unemployment rates are high and difficult get new jobs. In such times the mangers have to follow the rules of the company to recognize the unacceptable behaviour, giving them direct feedback, helping them to improve and finally taking action in a timely manner.
