BackCommon Mistakes While Hiring Employees
There are some common mistakes that the employers make when they are about to hire employees. Some of them are explained below:
1.Immediate need of an employee. The manager at times hires employees carelessly. This may happen when there has been a sudden quit by any employee or even when there are so many leads to be done that the manager cannot decide the way to complete the task.
2.To hire referrals without assessing them. If the managers employee such candidates, they find it very difficult to get a good output from the employees. The manager faces many problems while performing in a team. Such employees cannot even be driven to perform well. This problem will keep on confronting the manager unless he/she employs candidates without being biased.
3.Absence of screening of employees. Some managers are very quick at making decisions about employing the candidates and so they do not carry out the careful processes prior to hiring the employees. It does seem to be very easy, but it is difficult for people who feel very proud of their ability of making quick decisions, to follow all the steps to get best candidates for their companies.
4.To hire employees similar to you. You are remembered about your past when you look at such a candidate. You develop a good emotional feeling for such a candidate. At times managers hire candidates whom they find convenient to work with. If your candidate is very similar to you, then what is the use in employing your duplicate? It is not at all useful to hire such duplicates.
5.You do not like to do the work which you have to. For example, you do not like to do complicated paper work and you cannot do the process of follow up very well. So you think that it is better for you to employ a candidate who is interested in doing that work and is even good at it. This is a big mistake. Due to two reasons, try to learn the fundamentals of that work. One of the reasons is that the candidate will have to be trained by you before he/she can start working. Second reason is that, the style in which the candidate functions may be different from that of yours. And if, the candidate is not appreciated, you will be called as a poor manager.
