Preparations For First Impression
The first impression in a positive manner can make your interview fruitful. Here are some tips that will help you to get the important first interview impression.
The most important factor is that you have the qualifications which is required for this job, First impression can stand you over the other candidate equally qualified. That is why the first impression towards hiring manager should be always good.
Lets see some ways to start the interview in right way:
Don't be late
Always be on time. Many candidates comes late for interview. Even if are late by one or two minutes, it becomes worst when it comes to first impression. But don\'t reach too early also because it is also not a good impression.
Late going is bad, but early is also not good. If you go 15-20 minutes early for your interview, any one thing can happen. (1)Interview scheduled before you is still going on and you have sit waiting for your chance for that much time,or (2) there may be no interview before you and the manager has to start early just because you have arrived early.
So what should you do in such situation. Plan your time and reach early by 30 or 45 minutes, 45 minutes will be better, then you can wait in your car and review your notes. Then arrive before 5 minutes of your interview. This will be perfect and will reflect that you have business etiquette.
The reason behind arriving before 30-45 minutes is unexpected delay like traffic or many other things can happen. And if you come rushing for an interview, you don\'t feel relax while interview.
Dress properly
No one will like to dress up in dirty manner or you also don\'t want to dress as though you are going in a party. All that you need to look clean and professional.
You can observe hoe the employees of that company dress themselves, then you can dress yourself one step above from them. If you are applying for professional and management positions, a suit with a tie will be perfect dress for that position for men. For women, a formal pant suit will be best, wear limited jewelery and try to wear conservative shoes.
Trade and clerical position, men should wear the pant in Doctors style, long sleeves shirt with a collar, and nice shoes. For women, casual pants with a formal top.
A general way of dressing for everyone in common is to dress up in conservative colors. Try to avoid bright colors, and with lots of pattern etc. Otherwise this will put down your first impression. When you feel good about the way you dressed, then you don\'t need to worry about your dressing.
Smile and Firm Handshake
When you introduce yourself to a person or person who will be interviewing you, you first instead response should be a warm smile, look straight in the eye, and give them a firm handshake.
Be confidence and friendly with them, but don\'t get over friendly. This put good impression, present yourself in such a manner that reflects that you can handle yourself well. This things matters a lot, even if you have given your interview smoothly. Just remember to smile, straight look, and firm shake. After then come to the point and answer the questions asked by the interviewer.
