Departing employee in given an exit interview. This is done for the employees who legally leaves instead of those who are fired or laid off. Exit interview help us to know the information that otherwise might be difficult to obtain.
1.Think what all information you want to take before interview. This results in successful interview.
2.Keep the hard questions for the later part of interview.
3.Be prepare for the unexpected things, because all possible things will happen in an exit interview.
4.Select the interviewer carefully, the person should have good listening skills and is open minded person. So that there will be no question of argument with the departing employee.
5.keep very attentive towards the employees while taking the interview.
6.Look out for open ended question that will help you to get plenty of information. For example, “how did you feel while working with us?”.
7.Find the things from the departing employee which needs to be improved.
8.Try to know their view about their compensation and benefits package.
9.Leave end part of the interview for general comments.
10.As the interview is over find out where you want to rehire the employee.
11.Make use of information collected from exit interview. If you do not use this information than all your effort of taking interview go waste.
The exit interview provide us with lot of information that is very useful for our company. The employees who leaves are more transparent and frank in their discussion about the company. The company which do not conduct exit interview they miss out great opportunity.
