How do the small business deal with the employees who suddenly quit their posts? It happens very quickly with very little or no explanation. This can be a problem for an employers, because they spend time and expense in hiring and training them. This situation can be handled by some investigation techniques, who can communicate with employees in supportive manner.
The size of the organization does not matter, it is important to have a designated ethics officer. This officer is incharge of handling the communication breakdown and unethical conduct. When any employees gives their notice period, means they want to leave their job. Than it is the responsibility of ethics officer to know the reason behind it and take the efforts to solve that issue. And once the issue is solved, the employees decide not to leave the job and want to continue in attaining the goals of the company.
Ethics officers should have the following knowledge:
Person should be good.
He will protect the owner from damages caused by unethical behavior.
A staff member have to leave his post if he is the culprit of the unethical conduct.
For an example, if employees is going home every Friday at clock out time with a box full of stationaries like paper clips, pens, and other sundry items that belongs to the company, than he is the one who should leave the company. If the employees is really good he will quit the company instead of stealing because he does not want to hurt the his helper. The ethical department, will collect information and take step to find out the unethical conduct the employee have done. While resolving the unethical conduct, the officer must have the following list:
Details regarding his or her unethical behavior.
Accurate time and location of the act.
The actions which effects other employees, and departments.
The ethic officers would continue to investigate any communication breaks that affects the employees productivity. The officer would desire to understand if the employee:
Understood the policy of the company that affected his or her post.
Had well understanding about the requirements of his or her post.
Had been done correct handover of hi or her post.
Knew the company communication system with his or her post.
If the employee does not have information regarding any area, he will be given training and upgraded. Following this system have prove effective for small business owners and help to reduce the attrition rates.
