In the conventional appraisal process, the annual opinion is written by the managers about the performance of reporting employees on a particular document supplied by the human resource department. In certain organization, the employees are asked to fill the form to share with their supervisor.
Usually in every case, the appraisal reflects what the mangers can remember, this is the most recent event. The appraisals are based on opinions as measurement of real performance takes time and follow up to do well. The used documents in many organization asked the supervisor to make judgments on concepts and words like excellent performance, enthusiasm and achievements.
Many managers does not find such appraisals comfortable and sometimes there is delay in performance appraisals over months. The HR professional who conduct the appraisals, finds that his role is to develop the forms and maintain the file of official documents of an employees.
Infact the annual raises are bound to the performance evaluation, managers avoid doing such long process. Thus, the employees get the feeling of de-motivation that their managers does not care for them, to raise their annual performance.
