Exit Interview - Reduces Turnover


Exit interview does not means to reverse the resignation,but it is done to reduce future turnover.Exit interview help us to know the reasons of leaving .That might drive good people away from your company.

People leave their job for several reasons.Observe closely the departure of good employees,look whether they are leaving for others employment and those who resign for personal reasons.There is no particular reason for leaving :

  • Lack of recognition.

  • Poor quality for supervisors.

  • No advanced opportunity for employees.

  • Money- hope for a large income, or not satisfied with the amount paid.

Unhappiness at workplace may be one of the reason for valued employees to change their job. Departing employees usually speak truth if their exit interview is conducted by some supervisor.Especially the employees who leave their job because of some personal reasons,they do not speak negative things.As they have fear of affecting future employment references.

Questions for the exit interview should be prepared in unique manner,but some suggestions can be offered.Some samples questions are:

  • How do you feel when you are treated by your supervisor?

  • Do you have confidence on your work to be appreciated?

  • Do you feel you were given adequate training related to your job?

  • What's your opinion about the opportunities for promotion within the organization?

  • How was your job profile?

  • What could be done to make our company best place to work?

The exit interview doesn't tell you everything what you want,but you come to know certain things that, why good employees leave their job.
