The HR executives are specialist in twisting and confusing their prospective employees. It is very difficult to understand their expressions and jargons.

Our recruitments are on hold: If you have applied for the wrong company. Because of recession some companies have stop hiring, temporarily. Unfortunately you have applied in one of them, your chances of getting job is not possible at that point of time. So start looking for some other company. But many HR take the help of recession when they don’t want you or want to turn you down politely.

We will get back to you: Don’t take the words of HR seriously. There may be chances of calling you again later on. When they say that they will get back to you, it means that they need time to find out the department that you have applied to, whether you deserve that job. They also need to check, whether they can pay you your desired salary. Sometime they approach you. But if not then your paper will go to rough papers after few days.

When you can join us: When HR professional ask you, when can you join us? That means more or less sure they want to hire you and less your notice period, more they will be happy. Always tell the truth about your notice period or any kind of a bond that you may have signed with your current organisation. Ask them if they would be willing to buy your notice period, if they need you urgently.

Thanks for coming: By saying thanks they want you to get out of the company as soon as possible. They don’t want to spend a single minute with you and don’t want to see you again. So don’t even think that they will call you.

When you attempt for an interview, you have to wait. You need to strengthen your presence in the interviewer's mind. If you follow up, the things move smoothly.

Awaken your references: If the interview goes successfully, then it the right time to alert your references. If the company is interested in hiring you, they will definitely contact at least one person listing in your resume.

Calling immediately after interview shows the sign of desperation, it is better to give call after 10 days of interview. Use the phone call to show your interest and capabilities for the job.

Hiring a new employee is very important decision and it also takes time. In spite of your regular follow up, if the employer does not give any feedback, call them and ask them politely for a deadline for the update. If still they do give any revert, then it’s a time to move on.
