How To Attract And Retain Staff Members

Organization should change their employment system from treating people as a product to bought and sold as per their need. Here we will look at some points about attracting and retaining staff:

(1) Even if the organization fills all the positions, still more employees are needed to meet the requirement later on. To overcome this challenge, recruitment and retention policies and processes should be continued throughout the life of the organization. Companies search for specific applicants, attract qualified applicants and develop their talents.

(2) Organization must develop some schemes like internship programmes, search employment and organization agencies, recruitment bonuses, etc. These functions help the recruitment department to find out the people needed and the ways to find them.

(3) It is important to hire people more on their personality / behaviour, rather than on their skills and experience, because behaviour of a person cannot be changed, but skills can be developed.

(4) Rewarding the work is important. If the work provided to the employees has a positive impact on the business, then employees like to stay. The work which is compulsory, mix it with some more interesting activities that encourage employees to work towards the goal.

(5) Employees training and career development is suffering badly from downsizing, budgetary cuts, etc. This is the correct time to identify the skills and experience needed for each level. Training budgets help the employees to acquire skills needed for progress and thus improves retention.

(6) There are seven factors that keep the employees motivated they are: learning opportunities, work environment, compensation, rewards, leadership, etc. All these factors should be present in an employment package.
