Change Management Through Effective Communication

Communication plays a vital role in an organization and it is one of the toughest issues in the organization. Effective communication consists of four components:-

1. Message should be send clearly and in specific manner.
2. The person who receives message should listen carefully and ask questions.
3. The method of conveying the message should suit the need of both the sender and the receiver.
4. The content of the message should have some level, which the receiver can believe.

Suggestions about communication for effective change management

Prepare a written communication plan to ensure that all of the following points are included within your change management process:

1) Frequent communication through multiple channels, including writing, speaking, video and more things related to changes.

2) Communication is all about changing management, some details can be change at a latter date. Inform people that your other choice is to hold all communication until you make positive decision. This proves harmful in change management.

3) People should have time to ask questions and clear their doubts. If a leader presents the changes to a large group, it results in bad news for changing integration.

4) The aim and the mission of change management should be clear in minds of people. That helps them to understand the changes and that affects their personal life.

5) The changed leaders should spend time with people in small groups, who are expected to make changes.

6) The changes should be communicated in such a manner that people understand the purpose and the need behind it.

7) Try to give right answers for the questions asked, or say that you don't know, and that you will try to find out. Wrong answers can affect credibility.

8) Leader needs to listen carefully. Avoid excuses and answers that are given too quickly.

9) The changed leader should try to be available whenever he can, and should try and mingle with other people at workplace.

10) Provide open network to communicate, both formally and informally, to share their views about change management.
