How To Work With Recruiters

There are some guidelines to work with recruiters.

- Some companies do not pay fees for the resumes which are taken from monster.com. They have internal recruiters who access monster.com, so they don't want to pay the fees for the same candidates.

- A recruiter first confirms whether the employer is interested in your resume only then will he disclose the name of employer to you. In such cases, a recruiter may present your qualification to the client.

- A recruiter works for the company who pays him, not for candidates. Employers pay them their fees, only when they close the position.

- Ask their way of recruitment, means in what way they present your qualification to the prospective employers. Unemployed candidates have less chance to get selected, but not impossible.

- If a recruiter finds out that the employer needs totally different skills compared to the skills listed in job order, the recruiter sends some candidates as test candidates to the employers.

- If you come to know about the company and go directly to the employer, it proves to be very risky. The recruiter and the client have fixed an agreement for a particular period (one year). The recruiter is entitled to get a fee, if a company hires the candidate presented by the recruiter. The recruiter will talk to the company about you. If it is a reputed company, it will not hire you under such situation.

-Before presenting resumes to the employer, recruiters make certain changes in your resume. This does not mean that your resume is wrong, but they just format it properly and according to the client requirement. You may request the recruiter to send you a copy of that resume.

- Recruiter comes across thousands of resumes. Resumes which match with the qualification for the position, catches the interest of the recruiter. So do not get upset if you do not get any response from recruiters. It does not mean recruiters are not interested in your resume, but they don't have a requirement which matches your qualification. Your resume will be scanned into the recruiter database for future.
